Waiting for Godot
- Project set by Wimbledon School of Art
In Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett, the two main characters wait for the arrival of someone who never gets there. In my design, the scene takes place at a crossroads, which enhances the inability of the characters to chose a path in their lives. It is a world of dreams, quite post-apocalyptic, bare and dusty. The specific time and place are not defined, which echoes the surreal quality of the story. The tree in the centre contrasts with its bare surroundings and fascinates the characters. The idea is that a video of the sky would be projected onto the white cloth of the tree, showing the passing of time and the sunset in all its glory, beautiful yet unreachable.
